Couples & Marriage Counseling
Couples often seek to repair their relationship for the benefit of themselves, and for the benefit of their children. Unfortunately, one (or both) of the parties are often unable to understand the others point of view. The failure to realize a partner’s perspective alone… can lead to conflict. Additionally, partners who are in conflict rarely understand how their own actions contribute to the problem.
A New Outlook Counseling Services works with couples to discover a method of communication that empowers them to resolve issues as a team. We strive for success long after therapy has concluded. Alternatively, one (or both) partners may become defensive when a therapist attempts to resolve issues independently and on their own. The approach typically creates an environment where success becomes much more difficult to achieve. We help foster successful, happy and supportive couples with an optimistic view of their relationship.
Our Marriage/Family Couple’s therapy process will provide couples with a solid understanding of the goals necessary for success. The private, safe and comfortable sessions will build skills to improve trust without isolating either of the partners. Our staff establishes clear and firm boundaries so that all parties feel safe enough to express their true feelings. We allow each partner to present their point of view in a manner that the other party actually hears and understands. Additionally, our therapists help couples realize how he -or she- contributes to conflicts, and how to use a different communication style to cultivate a joyful, supportive and harmonious relationship.
A New Outlook Counseling Services also offers parenting workshops and classes. Parents are encouraged to participate in the Co-Parenting Following Divorce Workshop whether it be together or separately. The workshop is suitable for any parent that needs to satisfy a court ordered divorce education class, and it is an entry-level class for co-parents in high-conflict situations. The purpose of the workshop is to begin to teach parents important communication skills for co-parenting their child (or children) for life.
Systematic Training for Effective Parenting -STEP- has become the most recognized and most used set of parent education materials in North America.

Your out-of-pocket costs for care can vary greatly depending on your individual insurance plan, applicable copays, and deductibles. We recommend calling your health plan directly to determine what your out-of-pocket costs will be for marriage or couples counsoling. If you aren’t using insurance, learn more about self-pay rates here. We can also verify your insurance, and coverage and tell you more about your costs.
The first therapy appointment is typically longer than follow-up appointments so your therapist can get to know more about you. You’ll cover things like your background and reasons for coming in, as well as what to expect and how your therapist will conduct sessions.
Sessions typically last 45-60 minutes and can be conducted in-person or via video conferencing. Therapy addresses a broad range of issues, including stress, anger, grief, and conflict. It involves discussing thoughts and emotions, behavior patterns, problem-solving, conflict resolution, and identifying strengths and weaknesses.
Therapy may be short-term, focused on immediate issues, or long-term, delving into more complex problems. The frequency and duration of sessions are tailored to the individual’s needs and the therapist’s recommendations, with the approach varying based on the issues and the therapist’s methods.

Why Choose A New Outlook For Therapy
Resolving relationship challenges in a way that allows both partners to feel heard and understood can be difficult. Often, issues in a relationship stem from deep-seated trauma or attachment difficulties. On your own, it can be tough to connect present-day issues with past experiences. This is where couples therapy comes in—it provides an opportunity to understand the roots of disconnection and work together to heal.
- It’s Not Just for Crisis: Couples therapy isn’t reserved for troubled relationships. It’s helpful at any point in a relationship to improve communication, resolve disagreements, and strengthen the bond. Attending therapy early on can help prevent minor issues from turning into major problems later.
- Therapists Remain Neutral: Therapists maintain a neutral stance, avoiding taking sides or assigning blame. They provide a safe, judgment-free environment where both partners can freely express their feelings. This neutrality fosters trust and allows both partners to collaborate in improving their relationship.
- Communication Improvement: A lack of effective communication is a major source of tension in relationships. In therapy, you’ll work on improving communication, active listening, and empathy, allowing you to better understand one another and express yourselves constructively. With better communication, conflicts are easier to resolve, trust deepens, and the relationship becomes more fulfilling.
- Conflict Resolution: Couples therapy teaches conflict-resolution techniques that focus on identifying and addressing the root causes of issues, not just their symptoms. This approach leads to sustainable solutions and a healthier relationship.
- Setting Goals: In therapy, clear goals will be set for your relationship. Whether it’s rebuilding trust, improving intimacy, or aligning on life goals, therapy helps you define your objectives and create a strategy to reach them. For therapy to be most effective, both partners need to be open to learning, growth, and healing, both individually and as a couple.
- Privacy and Confidentiality: Everything discussed in couples therapy remains confidential. Therapists ensure that both partners feel comfortable sharing their thoughts and emotions without fear of judgment or breach of privacy.”
