One of the legendary “Three Amigos” shares message of hope and Healing in our high schools with Douglas Co. parents and students.
Parker, CO – September 26, 2018 – A New Outlook Counseling Services (ANOCS), a local therapeutic practice specializing in youth-related mental health and substance abuse announced today that former Broncos receiver, Vance Johnson will present “Healing in Our High Schools” a FREE event in Parker, CO at Chaparral High School Auditorium on September 26th, 2018 at 6:00 PM.
Robert Johnson, SAP, MAC, LAC, Executive Director of ANOCS says, “With daily occurrences of youth suicides – including the recent passing of 9 year old Jamel Myles, and the growing epidemic of teen substance abuse, we need to talk about mental health and sobriety more than ever.” Former Broncos receiver (Vance) Johnson’s 16-year old son, Vaughn Edward Johnson was killed in a motorcycle accident, and the grief that followed led the former NFL player to many dark places including contemplation of suicide and becoming a full-blown alcoholic. Today, a sober Johnson shares a message of hope and healing all across America.
“Healing in our High Schools” is a free community event targeting parents and students who wish to continue the discussion of how mental health is playing a role in the (often destructive) behaviors of our children – and what to do about it.
This event is being sponsored by several local area businesses including, but not limited to Re/Max Alliance, Stout Street Foundation, Rebound Colorado, Sandstone Care, Footprints to Recovery, Tyde Systems, Jaywalker Lodge, Thrivent Financial, Tonti’s Pizzeria and Sobriety First. National sponsors include Futures of Palm Beach and ARM Resources Management.
